The Aromatherapy Health Capsule is a remarkable steam system that uses the health-giving properties of the essential oils said to help alleviate stress, sinuses, skin complaints, muscle aches and pains. The steam deeply cleanses, detoxifies, nourishes and purifies your skin whilst the vaporised essential oils enhance your natural wellbeing, helping you to alleviate stress. Stiff joints are relaxed and toxins are eliminated. Also available are those oils said to revitalise, energise and invigorate the senses.

The capsule addresses many health issues such as asthma, sinuses, arthritis, respiratory problems, rheumatism and arthritis and with the help of our audio CD’s it can even compliment weight reduction. There is a choice of CD titles that you may have played within the capsule including stress treatment, stop smoking, weight control and confidence building. Alternatively you can relax to the tranquil sounds of classical, panpipe and Celtic music.

Scotsman Review

What is it?
A very hot, damp, concentrated steam session with added aromatherapy. It can be used to relieve stress, treat respiratory problems, rheumatism and arthritis, colds, aches and even aid weight loss.

How does it work?
It doesn’t differ much from the standard steam concept, but because only one person can squeeze into the capsule at a time, you can tailor the temperature and aromatherapy oils to your own preference.

The Lowdown
Have been raised on Haliborange, I 'd always thought health capsules were something you swallowed rather than sat in. but that was before I mate Yvonne Hardie and heard about how scented steam can cure every ill - even, in my case, stress. Could inhaling herbal essences really lead to spaced - out bliss? Yvonne was adamant it could and I wasn't about to argue with her. So when I finally laid eyes on the dark-brown Perspex container that was the centrepiece of all the excitement, I was slightly disappointed. Shouldn't it be more shiny and hi-tech? But there was no getting out of it, as the first ominous gurgles of steam started building up inside before I'd finished undressing. I'd been assured I could open the door if I felt uncomfortable and, oddly, even though I'm not at all claustrophobic, the sensation of not having enough oxygen made me mildly panicky at first. A few minutes later, however, breathing deeply, the combination of ylang-ylang, damp air and Enya's gentle warbling pushed me into a state of disembodied calmness I'd never experienced before. The remaining time passed in a blur of woozy pleasure, with only the tickles of condensation running down my back.

What next?
Exiting the volcanically hot capsule felt like plunging into an icy pond. Before my chilled-out state evaporated, though, the therapist enveloped me in a big white fluffy robe and led me over to what looked like a piece of plastic garden furniture. As I sank into it and layers of warm towels were wrapped around me, I realised it was in fact Rip Van Winkle's coach. The heated aromatherapy cushion behind my head was the final straw and I completed my journey into oblivion. Some time later, my slumbers were disturbed by the therapist creeping stealthily back into the dimly lit room to see if I was okay. To be honest, if she'd come to stick pins in me I doubt it would have hurt; I already felt like I'd been hit by a tranquilliser dart.

Did it last?
Yes, for several hours. It took a concentrated effort to get dressed afterwards as I fumbled with buttons and struggled to tie my shoelaces. When I finally stumbled out into the daylight, dazed and slightly disorientated, I wondered if I'd been turned in to a zombie. Maybe Yvonne was the ruthless mastermind behind a body-snatching operation. Back at the office, I kept dropping things and my dopey grin made several people wonder exactly what I'd been inhaling. Needless to say, I did no more work that day.
